On my love list

My ‘things I love’ folder on pinterest is getting pretty big, as is my Etsy favourites.  I have heaps and heaps of things I keep notes on…things I’ve found on my travels over the web that I would love to specify for clients.

I’ve decided to share the love with you.  That’s right….I’m letting you in on some of my secrets  So from now on, I’ll occasionally be opening up my files to show you what’s on the top of my love list.

First up, this AMAZING child's peacock chair from Down that Little Lane.  La-la love it!

Make it little: Sweet sophistication

The term ‘grey & pink nursery’ is one of the most googled terms that leads readers to my blog.  Seems alot of you love the combination!  I just adore this design by Anne Hepfer…..a blend of girly glam and soothing grey (with a pop of gold bling).

I hope this one inspires those looking for pink & grey nurseries!

New at Nest: ‘Ready to Hatch’ design boards

Something new for you lovelies!  On occasion (not all the time, but when time permits), I will present a pre-made design board (get it..ready to hatch (thanks Mel!)) that will be available for you to purchase. You will receive the design board and online shopping list as well as some general notes on where to locate the items on the design board within the room.

Ready to hatch cover

These designs will be one of a kind (like all my work) and will only be sold once, so you are getting an original design at a fraction of the custom design boards.  They are however, as they come, but I am only an email away if you purchase it and have any questions.  The first person that contacts me will be the lucky owner of the design board.

I will make a note when I am listing the items as to the items costs (for example the artwork might start at $25 but linen might cost $250, so will be listed as $25-$250) so you have a guide for your budget.    As always, I’m not one to specify really expensive items so there might be 1 splurge item on the board but the rest will be very reasonable in their costs.

So keep an eye out, as listings will range from gender neutral nurseries to big boy/girl rooms. I will make sure you know by popping a post up on the blog (and I am in the process of adding a new tab to up the top of the page) as well as on my facebook album pages.

My first ‘ready to hatch’ design board was designed for a girls nursery and is a beautiful, sunshine happy room.  Prices for items on this design range from $25-$250 (not including postage).

As an introductory offer, this design board (and associated details) is available for purchase for $80 and once it has been purchased will be taken out of the ‘ready to hatch’ range.

So hot right now: Neon

So you know it’s huge in fashion at the moment and starting to flow through to homewares…..but how would you use neon in a nursery?  Use it sparingly and in pieces that aren’t expensive (I don’t think it will be a trend for multiple years).

Personally I’m not a huge fan (I still remember fluoro happy pants from the ‘80’s!) but if you are, I’ve found a few suggestions for you to use in your little one’s room.

Make it little: Laid back cool

It’s back!  This week’s ‘Make it Little’ is quite a contrast to my last colourful example

The below original image was designed by Greg Natale (one of my favourite Australian designers).  It’s so laid back, neutral, calming and has beautiful textures coming though.  I think the colour scheme would be great for a gender neutral nursery.

My Little Nest: Cooper’s Safari Room

You’ve seen the design board, now it’s time to see the room.  This nursery belongs to my beautiful nephew, Cooper (as seen in the latest edition of Little One Baby).

My brother, Matthew, & my sister in law, Laila, wanted to create a gender neutral nursery for their first born and wanted to include a slight safari theme throughout the room.  The room is quite little, so the walls were kept the same colour as the rest of the house and as you saw on the design board, I incorporated yellow, grey and blue as the main colours.

CoopersRoom06I made the bunting to hang over the cot as a colourful feature in the room.

I love these gorgeous wooden animals.  Add a ‘mini cooper’ to the other mini cooper already in the room!CoopersRoom14

A gallery above the change table includes prints and photos and is easy to add to and easy to add more colour to the room.CoopersRoom17

One of my favourite things in the room is this cloud mobile.CoopersRoom12

I made this print for Cooper.  If there is a family gathering, you can pretty much guarantee that within the first few hours, some Anchorman quotes will be pulled out, so it’s quite appropriate for Coopers room.CoopersRoom15

CoopersRoom16And here is the little spunky boy himself, Cooper!  I love him in this colour.

Now, I just have to make my way to Sydney to see the room myself!

Wow!  What fabulous feedback I’ve had from my 'Make it Little’ post!  A big thankyou to Buy Modern Baby & Modern Parent, Messy Kids for the mentions recently.  I have another one coming up later in the week.

I’ve also had Charlie nursery featured on Babble & Design Dazzle.  Lucky me!!

Tomorrow, I’ll be back to show you photos of Cooper’s nursery that was just featured in Little One Baby.

Little One Baby!

Thursday was a very exciting day for me:  I received my copy of the latest Little One baby magazine.  You see, not only was Charles nursery featured in there, but my beautiful nephew’s nursery (you saw the design board here) was in there as well!  Add to that, Nest has it’s very first ad….can you see why I was a little excited?

You need to go buy yourself a copy of the most beautiful baby magazine in Australia, but in the mean time here are my feature pages.

And my ad!

There is also a sneaky photo of Hugh in there (Hugh did some modelling quite a while ago and let’s just say he wasn’t happy)….look for the screaming baby!
